Boy's Nantahala Trip
"Kids go where there is excitement. They stay where there is love." - Zig Ziglar
Rafting a new river, fishing as often you want, a distraction from summer boredom... whatever their reason, UMA's high school boys were very excited to head out on another adventure with Mr. Bourdon (UMA's founder and executive director) and their other leaders. They traveled to the Nantahala River in North Carolina and spent five days camping, rafting, fishing, swimming, and just getting to hang out together. They had also been let in on a secret that there would be a little friendly competition happening throughout the week with prizes for the biggest fish caught, the winner of the kayak race across the lake, and the "deathhack"champion.
It's safe to say that at the end of the week, all of the guys had a great time together! We watched them face fears, work hard to listen to the commands of their raft guide, engage in their group devotional and worship time, as well as laugh and just have a great time being together! We love these adventure trips for all of those exciting reasons but we can pretty much guarantee that's not what's kept these guys committed to UMA for the past six, seven, or eight years. UMA is a place where they feel loved and our prayer is that that will always be the case!
